Using Evernote as a Diary:
I had a friend of mine ask me about personal diary software and what I would recommend. I didn’t have an answer right away, because, well honestly I don’t use a personal diary, so I have never had to look into the software options available.
What I did know is that I use Evernote for practically every aspect of my business and my personal life, so I could see myself if I did journal, using evernote as a diary.
It made sense, why invest in testing out another software, having to potential purchase it, when Evernote is free. Keeping things simple is my motto. I knew my friend also was playing around with Evernote and she had it on her computer, so this was a perfect, simple solution for her.
What I decided to do was to do a video to show her how to set up the Notebook in Evernote to use it as a diary. I found three safeguards that I recommend to protect the privacy of your written word and to keep the snoops at bay.
Safeguard #1: Set up your new Notebook as a “Local Notebook”
Safeguard #2: When you are not at your computer, get in the habit of signing out of your Evernote completely. Great tip: You can even set up a separate Evernote account just for your diary only, so you can keep your main Evernote account open all the time for web clipping etc .
Safeguard #3: When you are completed with your writing for the day or post you can highlight the selected text and pass phrase protect the text so that a passcode needs to be entered to view it.
Here is my video that I did walking you through this process.
